I told my friend, "Yeah, that's a Bricklin SV-1!"
But the Bricklin is a gullwing and the nose is all different. Halp.
EDIT: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! says it's a Sterling Nova, but all the other Novas I've found are really different, without pop-up headlights and such.

Bradley GT II.
Why this one has "Side pipes", I have no idea...
Edit: Sorry. I was wrong. Some form of a Sterling Nova?

Good call. Just caught that. Wiki does have one with a canopy. Cheers.

Yup, it's a Sterling. All 70s, all fiberglass, and all homemade. No two 70s kit cars are the same.

Sterling Sebring Turbo. Likely this very one .

EDIT: it is the same one, it's even parked in front of the same store.

It actually looks a lot like a sterling except the hood and lights. It's some kind of kit car for sure.

Pretty sure it's a...well, you know what's next, dude.

One of these:
They are kit cars so they can come in all manner of finished noses and lights and such.

Definitely that very one. Right down to the Thrush exhaust. Thank you, sir or madam! And for your trouble, here's what's under the bonnet:
EDIT: Interesting that the exhaust has to go back toward the front of the car first. Gotta fit those mufflers somewhere...

You're not wrong.

2.8? Interesting. Most came with the 3.8, according to the webz. I think I'd just drop in a Subaru 2.0/2.5 and be done with it.
But if I had one of those (plus another ten grand), I'd just get one of these .

Your pic above is of the 2.8L, or at least some Chevrolet 60° V6 of whatever displacement. Stock were 2.8L, 3.1L, & 3.4L.
The Buick 3.8L has a 90° vee angle, and when they had a distributor, it was on the "front" of the engine.
And yeah, even Sterling themselves now recommend a Subaru boxer.
